Willie Garson Dies At 57

LOS ANGELES — Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch, Carrie Bradshaw’s friend on TV’s “Sex and therefore the City” and its movie sequels, has died, his son announced Tuesday. He was 57.
Matt Bomer, Garson’s co-star on “White Collar,” which ran for 6 seasons, remembered his friend by saying Garson “taught me such a lot about courage and resilience and love.”
“I still haven’t wrapped my head around a world without you in it – where i can not call you once I got to laugh, or be inspired. The last item you probably did once we said goodbye was pull down your mask (I hate covid), smile, and connive at me,” he wrote. “I know that it wasn’t reflective of the pain you were browsing , but it had been indicative of everything you were and are to me: some one who lifted me up, who made me better, and who always, always made me smile.”

“I love you such a lot papa. Rest In Peace and i am so glad you bought to share all of your adventures with me and were ready to accomplish such a lot ,” Nathen Garson wrote on Instagram. “I’m so pleased with you.”
“You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known,” his son added.
No details of his death were released. Messages seeking comment from his representatives weren’t immediately returned.
Garson portrayed Blatch, a agent and therefore the devoted and classy best male friend to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie for 6 seasons. He reprised the role within the films “Sex and therefore the refore the City” and “Sex and the City 2,” and had been filming an upcoming series revival for HBO Max called “And a bit like That.”
Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes within the series, expressed her sorrow during a tweet.

“We all loved him and adored working with him. He was endlessly funny on-screen and and in real world ,” she wrote. “He was a source of sunshine , friendship and entertainment industry lore. He was a consummate professional — always.”

“I couldn’t have had a brighter TV partner,” tweeted Mario Cantone, who played Garson’s husband in “Sex and therefore the City.” “I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness.”
He added: “You survive in our hearts and minds always: and your White Collar family is usually here for Nathen. Save an area on behalf of me , because you recognize i would like to be at your table up there.”
Garson’s friend, “Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen, wrote: “This breaks my heart. Willie Garson, a lover who loved me at my worst, (and always let me know it) is gone. Goodbye, Fatty. i really like you usually .”

He added: “You were a present from the gods.”
“Willie Garson was in life, as on screen, a faithful friend and a bright light for everybody in his universe. He created one among the foremost beloved characters from the HBO pantheon and was a member of our family for nearly 25 years,” an HBO Facebook statement said. “We are deeply saddened to find out of his passing and extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”
Born William Garson Paszamant in Highland Park, New Jersey, Garson began studying working at age 13 at the Actors Institute in ny . He made many appearances on TV and in motion pictures.
Besides “Sex and therefore the City,” he was perhaps best referred to as Mozzie, a confidence man on the television program “”White Collar,” and also had recurring roles on “NYPD Blue,” “Hawaii Five-0” and “Supergirl.”
Garson, who was an advocate for adoption agencies, adopted his son, Nathen, in 2009 and marked the adoption during a January Instagram posting that read: “Best day of my life. Always.”
